Hi all
Well I said I was going to Amsterdam hoping to get a decent result and can't complain with beating 219 players to take the Master Classics 500 Euro Omaha event! How I won is in the diary section. Let me tell you anyone succeeding in Amsterdam ends up massively improving their position in the European rankings as they always have the biggest fields. The event I won was worth a whopping 1800 points and propelled me from 85th to 19th in all games and from 128th to 1st in Omaha, I have one last ranking event left this year in Walsall as I will miss Helsinki as it clashes with St Maarten. I am going to play the £500 No Limit, £250 Pot Limit Omaha and the £1500 No Limit main event, my goal is to try to remain top in Omaha and improve my all games position.
This was my first win in Amsterdam, previously I had made two No Limit and one Limit final with a best finish in 2002 of third to Marcel. When I got home I realised I have now won at least one tournament in 4 European countries, Helsinki ( 1 ) Paris ( 2 ) Vienna ( 3 ) Amsterdam ( 1 ) , I may have had a rough 2 years but this is a nice achievement I am proud of. My long term goals now are to improve on my 4th in the $3000 No Limit at the WSOP and win a major event like a WPT with a serious amount of money. The Aussie Millions coming up in January will be my first chance of 2005 with $1,000,000 guaranteed to the winner I am sure several players will travel down under as an alternative to Tunica, I fly out on the 2nd January, back on the 22nd and can't wait. The team at the Crown put on the best welcome and really care about the travelling players, the casino is magnificent and the hotel as good if not better than the big names in Vegas, the staff are well trained and the players great company plus Melbourne is a beautiful city, I will be playing several events including my first attempt at speed poker which with Bendigo at the helm I am sure will be great fun, I hope to see some of you there.
We will be adding a load of new photos to the gallery, some of the final in Amsterdam but also something I promised to do when the site launched in August. For those that haven't dipped their toe into live poker yet or are learning and haven't played in Europe I decided to take some photos of my Major Trophies so you can actually see the one I got for winning Late Night Poker, also for the EWSOP and the first ever Tournament Performance of the year as well as some others all subtitled, I know everyone says that all that counts is the money but when I'm losing my hair in 30 years, hold on I've already lost all my hair ! Anyway the point is no matter what happens it's nice to have these to keep, although mine fill a cabinet, Devilfish has a room! lol.
