It's funny how things work out sometimes .

I came here with a schedule agreed with UK Betting around the heads up , as i managed to finish a respectable joint 9th in the World Heads Up i missed the €500 No Limit on Friday so instead decided to play an additional event the €200 No Limit finishing 12th of 114 and €1250 , as a result of that and having been unlucky in the €540 Pot Limit when my KK were cracked by QQ with 17 left and knowing i am playing well , i decided to play another extra event , the final €100 No Limit tonight .

There were only 68 runners but i managed to make the final , to be honest i found some hands and was gifted a lot of chips early on , eg i raised in FP with KK and the BB called with 56s , when the flop came Q Q 5 , he check called all in ! Then i had JJ three times , once in particular i flopped a full house and on the turn my opponent moved all in with a flush draw .

The rebuy period was mad , when a player raised to 200 with QQ , another moved in for 450 with Q4s and a third reraised to 1250 all in with T2s , the QQ called and finished third when the flop read 4 T 4 7 T .

At the dinner break i was one of the chip leaders and never lost it , i made the final with 36,000 out of the 288,000 in play , the blinds went to 2000 4000 with a 400 ante before we lost a player , then they started to fall like dominos , by the time we were down to 4 i had played only two hands , a bluff in the SB and AA in FP , no calls .

With 4 left the average was 72,000 ,i had 29,000 the two chip leaders had passed and i moved in with KT in the SB , the BB called with AJ and i was down to 11,000 , the ante was now 500 and the blinds 4000 8000 , on my next BB i was raised all in for my last 3000 , i of course had to call , i was up against 22 but had A5s and flopped an A , i moved in on the button and doubled up again with 84o v AQ , then on my next BB the FP moved in , the next player Dave Gardener reraised all in and i found AQ and passed , the FP had KJ and Dave had QQ and won .

We now had three Brits left and with the blinds now 6000 12000 with a 1000 ante and the difference between third and first €6000 we agreed a deal rather than play a crapshoot of all in every hand , as i had only 19% of the chips and got almost 2nd place money of €4000 it made sense .

So i ended up playing 6 events here in Barcelona cashing in 3 for a total of €8500 , not a huge amount but the fact i am hitting form and playing well in time for the WSOP is great news .

The Heads Up finshed today and the Swede Peter Gunnarson who beat me in the last 16 has won , he beat Pascal Perrault in the Quarters then Dave Colclough in the Semis before taking out Brit Simon Nowab in the final .

In it's first 5 years the winners have been French , Russian , American , Spanish and now Swedish while in the last 4 years the runner up has been British every time , maybe next year .

My next event is in Southampton on May 29th , a £500 No Limit Freezeout , lets see if i can keep this run going .
