Diary
Today was $2500 Omaha Hi Lo and apart from the second level where i finished with $3325 i just never gained any momentum .
When you consider the 5th level was $100 $200 and i started and finished it with only $700 then survived 3 all ins during the $200 $300 level my short stack game is obviously intact.
In the first two levels i scooped two pots with nut high and low once and quad Queens where another player did all the betting for me , i was unlucky to halve one pot when the flop was this 2 2 4 7 A and my hand was 2 3 4 5 then Ram Vaswani joined the table and at the end of the 4th level won three quarters of a pot when we both had nut low but he had 2 pair to my one pair , this left me with only 700 .
After the break i reraised all in for 600 and got one caller , he had 2 3 4 7 to my A A 5 6 , flop was T Q J A A , another quads ,the table now broke and i moved to Barny Boatmans , here i faced another all in that i survived then they broke the table again and i moved to Toto Leonides , i survived 2 first position all ins but finally just before dinner my luck ran out , i flopped 2 pair in the SB all in to a bigger 2 pair and finished around 145th of 359 .
My first event i was out in level 2 , second level 3 , today level 6 so i am confident a result is forthcoming , tomorrow is the second $1500 No Limit , the first had 2305 players , i expect around 1200 to 1500 for this one .
Also today was the second day of the £5000 Pot Limit Hold-em , Devilfish came from a short stack with 45 left to finish 14th and with ten left they include two Brits , John Gale winner of a WPT event and Steven Lui who won the Master Classics main event at the Lido in Amsterdam a few years ago , good luck to them both .
Everybody is saying that you have to play these smaller events fast as with only 1500 in chips you need to double up early , i intend to do the opposite . I saw that after only 2 levels in the $1500 Omaha we lost half the field and that had the same structure , 25 25 , 25 50 , 50 100 , 75 150 for the first 4 levels , as long as i have 1500 to 2000 at the start of level 3 i would feel comfortable relative to the blinds regardless of the average stack so this time i will not be gambling to get chips but choosing my spots and hoping to get some cards wich i can play aggressively , apart from the $1000 with rebuys this will be my last small event , from now on they range from $2000 to $10,000 and i should be able to utilise my experience , we shall see !
