Diary
Only 98 players and a £200 entry fee but another great structure of 5000 chips and a 45 minute clock.
Level 1 seemed to be a repeat of the first event as good hands got beat , i played AK JTss , KK T5ss (BB) and 9T JK on a flop of A Q 2 , all missed and i ended up with a third of my chips gone down to 3300 .
In the second round , again i only played 3 hands but what a difference ! QT K5ds , flop Q Q J , i bet and was called by Xyguen Pham with the nut diamonds , turn was the ten of diamonds and she bet , i raised and she called drawing dead , the dealer passed me the pot and Xgyuen then asked me the size of my last bet , i said 1800 and she threw me two 1000 chips , i threw her 200 change , the dealer had forgot to take her chips in even though they were clearly over the line , it's honesty like that that reveals the true character of a player and Xgyuen is clearly top class.
I then won two more pots with 58 89ds , flop K T 7 6 8 , and TT J5ds when i flopped a set and a flush draw , i ended that level in great shape with 9650.
In level 3 i lost a big pot when i raised from the BB with TT JQ and the button who had flat called pre flop called with A2 77 and flopped a 7 to my straight wrap , i got some back all in with AA 35 v KK 32 but as level 4 and 5 passed and i had mostly unplayable hands i fell to 5875.
The 6th level was 300 600 and i needed to start building , i called an all in with AA 58ss , he had 9T JQds , flop came Q 5 8 giving him a huge draw that missed as turn and river were 2 4 and my two pair won , i then cracked AA after calling a raise to 2100 with 78 9Tds , the flop was a monster for me T 8 3 giving me two pair with a straight and a flush draw , i ended up with a full house as the turn and river were T 9 ! I was back up to 10,500 but still had work to do as blinds were now 400 800 .
I won one hand with AA T7 when i raised two limpers unchallenged then in level 8 i bluffed a huge pot and was up to 20,500 , we were down to last 18 and there was a lot of pre flop raise and take , i was running card dead and when there was a raise to 5600 in the 800 1600 level and a flat call , i decided to take the flop with 23 44ds in the BB , i was sure one had AA , the other KK and intended to bluff if a small flop came , it was Q 2 3 rainbow , no check raising at this stage , i moved in and they both passed.
The last hand of the night for me was AQ Q6ds , Tony Hakki limped and i raised to 7200 , he called , flop was 2 3 5 , i moved in and he passed , i made the final with 22,500 in 8th place of 9 .
As we counted and bagged are chips we were told the restart would be 3pm but to be back at 2.30.
Day 2.
I arrived at 2.50 to find they had actually restarted at 2.35 and that the floorman had misinformed us of the start time , i had lost one round in blinds which were now 1000 2000 so was shortest stack with 19,500 , the first hand i picked up was in FP , i raised as if on tilt to 7000 , all passed , i flipped up my hand AK A7ds !
I then raised with AQ J5 no calls , and on a three way flop moved in with AQ Q8 for an over pair and nut flush draw , again no calls and i was now up to 29,500 as we entered the 1500 300 level still in 7th place of the 9 remaining players .
During level 10 we finally lost a player and i won the biggest pot so far , i called a 9000 raise with JQ QKss , flop was 8 9 T , he put me all in with his overpair of KK and a flush draw , i called with the nuts and improved to a higher straight and top set when a Q fell on the turn , making my full as another 9 came on the river , i was now up to 4th chips with 49,000 , still 8 left.
I really fancied winning this now , the blinds were going to 2000 4000 which i expected to iro out at least three of the short stacks , i won the first pot with KQ T3ds in FP , flop was A 4 K , we all checked and a beautiful J hit the turn , i bet half the pot but no calls .
I was now third chip leader and if i had won this next pot i am sure i would have locked up a top 3 finish , the FP raised to 14,000 , all passed and in the BB i picked up AA K5ss , i reraised his last 4000 and he of course called , pot was 38,000 , win this and i would be second chip leader , he turned up QQ K4 , first card over was a Q , the very next hand he picked up AA 35 and got it all in against KK Q9 and flopped a straight on the 2 4 6 flop , he was now third in chips from 8th !
Another round passed and still we had 8 players , one off the button raised to 12,000 , i had 52,000 and called in the SB with KK 34ss , flop was Q 8 4 rainbow and i checked to raise , he bet 14,000 and i contemplated for a while then representing a set reraised all in for 26,000 more , he had a Q to go with his AA and decided i didn't have the set and called , the pot was 108,000 , if i win i'm chip leader , turn brought a second 4 to make me a set but gave my opponent a flush draw and when the 6 of spades fell on the river he made it and i was out !
Having had such a bad start on the first day i was pleased to make another Omaha final but even though i came to the table lowest stack after losing my blinds i felt i would finish a lot higher so i am a little disappointed , the guy i had all in who hit the Q earlier went on to make a 4 way deal , i seem to do a lot better with connected suited cards than AA and as usual they proved to be my key hand in this final .
The next event is the double chance £750 No Limit at 8pm , i'll let you know how it goes .
